Do not antagonize the fic commenter ...

So, I wrote a couple of drabbles a while ago in the Suits fandom over on Tumblr about Harvey being disbarred, and a while ago decided to post them as a small ficlet on AO3 ... it's here if you're curious:  http://archiveofourown.org/works/950372

So, this morning I wake up to find this comment on the fic:

"Two things, one its debarred and two Mike is a lawyer because he passed the bar exam, the lie is about him going to Harvard's law school. Good fic though"

Now, first of all I know for a fact that the correct term is 'disbarred' being as I work in a lawfirm.  Debarred is a word, yes, but disbarred is particular to the practice of law.  Second of all, Mike isn't technically a lawyer - just passing the bar does not make someone a lawyer (I know, I did research for a fic for it).  In fact, if I remember correctly just recently they hacked into the State Bar website to put Mike in there.  So no, he's not an attorney just because he passed the bar.  While yes, he did not go to Harvard and does not have a juris doctorate, the big part of the lie is that he's NOT ACTUALLY AN ATTORNEY.  Again, just because you pass the Bar does not mean you're an attorney - there are other things that need to be done before you can actually be called a lawyer.

I just had to bite back the urge to rant at this person.  So I decided I would just rant it out here.

Right? I know that I'm correct - I just don't want to be that person to antagonize them, you know?

Absolutely! We can go on knowing that we're morally superior--better than that, we're not getting involved in some crapola the other person is obviously hoping to start.

LOL Yeah ... I'm so tempted to just ask them where they got their research ... but I really shouldn't. LOL
