...who feels the need to take a break from an increasingly dysfunctional relationship.

My own thoughts here (after [livejournal.com profile] taylorgibbs left me a thought provoking comment) -- It was pointed out to me that those independent authors, musicians and filmmakers will be the ones hit hardest by this ... The people who need to get the message are the Big Guns ... the major corporations who are backing this. So ... sure, do a black out, but ... support the independents, those who are working for themselves, just trying to get their words/music/vision out there ...

So if, if you want to protest, then target the Big Guns ...

Or, sign petitions, write your Congressman, the Senators, hell, write the President ...

We can't usually afford to do much in a given month regardless but I'll gladly save any money we would have spent to help this cause. Megaupload was just the beginning. If we don't make our voices heard now the internet will soon change and it won't be for the better.

*hugs*

Although I am against censorship on any level, I have to state my own opinion about this. The Internet should not be censored, period. I also feel that no one should tell anyone else what to do, even if its in protest. Black March is a nice idea in theory, but the reality of it is that its a trade off from one system telling us what to do to another. Another reason I see this as a bad idea is because the economy is screwed up enough as it is without this protest making the "stocks and shares will blip from a large enough loss of incomes."

I don't mean it to be a 'do it' kind of thing ... I just want to get the message out there and to give people and idea as to a way to protest what is going on.

And after my friend below gave me some interesting thoughts, I have edited my post to reflect that if, if you're going to protest, the protest the big guys, not the little guys working hard to be heard ...
