March 20, 1997

I was a fifteen year old sophomore in high school when the first episode of Buffy The Vampire Slayer premiered. I wasn’t popular, wasn’t cool, hung out with a bunch of misfits, even sometimes with a teacher or two.

And there was Buffy Summers, who hung out with her own group of misfits, even the librarian. She navigated the trials and tribulations of high school at the same time I was. Although a bit of escapism, in watching Buffy and her friends I found kindred spirits … a part of me in each of them.

When Buffy and Co. graduated high school in the summer of 1999 [Season 3], so did I … our cap and gown colors were even the same (yes, I geeked out).

As Buffy entered her first year in college [Season 4], so did I.

I lost my mom at the end of 1999.

Mid-way through Season 5 [2000 - 2001], Buffy lost her mom. That episode both moved me and brought the reality of my own situation crashing down on me … And then Anya said what I'm sure lots of people wish they could say but never do. I actually still cannot watch that episode.

Season 6 of Buffy was the darkest of the seasons and aired during some of my own darker moments. Although it was dark itself, the show was one of the few bright spots for me during that time … as I overcame some of my own personal demons by the middle of 2002, so did Buffy by the time Season 6 had ended.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer ended on May 20, 2003 … a part of me is still with the Scooby Gang (although not in Sunnydale since they blew that city to bits … ) The show will forever be a part of me, something to point to as having an impact on who I am now.

I’m ready to be strong.

I actually finished this a while ago, but forgot to do the review *facepalm* ... I'm actually almost done with the fifth book I bought, so that review will come soon LOL

An Unlocked Heart
Since the death of his submissive lover two years ago, Leo hasn’t been living—merely existing. He focuses on making Collars & Cuffs, a BDSM club in Manchester’s gay village, successful. That changes the night he and his business partner have their weekly meeting at Severinos. Leo can’t keep his eyes off the new server. The shy man seems determined to avoid Leo’s gaze, but that’s like a red rag to a bull. Leo loves a challenge.

Alex Daniels works at Severinos to scrape together the money to move out on his own. He struggles with coming out, but he’s drawn to Leo, the gorgeous guy with the icy-blue eyes who’s been eating in his area nearly every night.

Leo won’t let Alex’s hesitance get in the way. He even keeps him away from the club so as not to scare him. And as for telling Alex that Leo is a Dom? Not a good idea. One date becomes two, but date two leads to Leo’s bedroom… and Alex discovers things about himself he never realized—and never wanted anyone to see.

The Replacement Guitarist
Blaze Shinozuka has two goals: get a job as a guitarist and lose his virginity. At an audition for a famous pop star, he draws the attention of celebrity manager Jason Stockton--and their instant attraction sends his world careening off its axis just as he is thrust into the gritty world of rock 'n' roll.

Straight-laced music manager Jason Stockton is always professional and never dips his pen in the company ink. But there is something about Blaze that leaves him wanting what he shouldn't. The guitarist's exotic beauty and compelling innocence is a temptation Jason can't resist.

After one lie in the national media pushes them apart, Blaze must decide whether he will trust Jason, a man he shouldn't touch, let alone love.  The cutthroat, jealous world of rock 'n' roll, has chewed up and spit out the toughest musicians, and Blaze vows he will be the last man standing, even after the music stops.

This gay romance contains very frequent love scenes, drug use and a very angry pop star dead set on coming between two men who will stop at nothing to be together.

Secrets and Ink
If life was like the movies, Jem Mitchell’s wouldn’t be such a mess. In LA’s glittering world of dreams, he works an unglamorous job at a gourmet grocery store. His past is so deep and dark, the details are lost even to him. All he knows is he was once cursed by a meter maid, and ever since, his love life has sucked.

When Detective Nick Davies becomes a regular at the store, Jem dares to hope he’s un-hexed at last. He should have known that sex with a remarkably normal guy, devoid of weird fetishes and fatal personality flaws, was too good to be true.

During a post-encounter cuddle, Nick recognizes the tattoo on Jem’s back—and remembers him as a young hustler he arrested nine years past.

As Jem’s memories come crashing back, he flees from Nick, but fate contrives to keep pushing them back together. And when Jem’s old partner in crime is found murdered, the stakes are raised for life, for love, and a dangerous drama with no guarantee of a Hollywood ending.

Country Mouse
Owen may be a bit of a country mouse, but he’s loving his vacation in London. After a long day playing tourist, he’s on the hunt for some cheap beer and a good burger. Instead he finds a man hunting him, an arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: the kind of meat that doesn’t come on a bun.

Eighty-hour weeks at a trading desk don’t leave Malcolm Kavanagh much time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything’s a competition—even sex. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young Yank on the bar stool beside him.

Owen’s all for an adventure with a native, but he’s not the pushover Malcolm thinks he is, and Malcolm’s not as shallow as he tries to be. They both soon learn that nothing's too intimate to share with a stranger, and the strangest things happen when two people share the most important pieces of their hearts

I feel recently, like some fans in some fandoms (and I'm in a couple, so this isn't a jab at any one in particular) have just lost their manners when it comes to interacting with actors/actresses/directors/etc ... Yes, the fourth wall has practically been torn down with Twitter and Tumblr, but ... I feel like you should still respect whatever famous person you are tweeting to ...

Bagging on an actor who they feel didn't do all they should have to keep another actor on a show is uncool ... Tweeting to someone and telling them about how they're making it hard to not ship them with one of their costars is inappropriate.

I just ... when did fans lose their shit and get this feeling of entitlement?  Respect these people who just want to have a little bit of a private life.  I get that they're famous, so they are in the limelight a bit but ... wow.

*shakes my head*  I'm glad I'm not one of the crazy ones.

So ... I was going to do a review of last night's Suits (which I had to watch late because stuck at work >.<) ... but ... I read [livejournal.com profile] mskatej's review and ... Yep.  She said everything I was thinking.

So if you want to know what I thought, go read her review LOL ... it's here

I think I might need to watch Suits again so I can fully digest and make comments ... there were some things I loved, some things that made me wibbly and some things that kinda ticked me off, but ... MY SHOW IS BACK!!!  *bounces happily*

If you haven't heard the news yet ... (Casting News Spoiler?) )
sinderella81: (EXPLODE!)
Feel free to skip on past, but if you leave any hateful comments, they'll be deleted.  This is my journal and I can say what I want.

I watched the NCIS Season 10 Finale last night.  Totally loved it.  However, it didn't change how I've been feeling for the past couple of months.  I feel like there has been something missing from the show for a while now ... it seems to have lost the 'team' ... Not that there haven't been great episodes, but ... *sigh*

Anyway, I kind of feel like Season 11 should be it.  I fee like it has had a really good run, but ... I just think it's a good time.  It gives them a full season to wrap things up and give us a good ending.

What am I going to do until January???????

Okay, so for most of the episode I felt like punching Louis in the nuts ... I get that he finally felt like he had the respect he'd wanted for so long, but ... it still hurt.

And when he and Donna were talking ... amazing.

But then Louis redeemed himself at the end of the episode.

Patrick Adams deserves an award for the funeral scene.  Just ... UGH

I don't like Tess already.

OMG!  Mike and Harvey got high together!  And can we get Harvey smiling and laughing more?   Cuz ... GUH!!!!!!!!

Harvey and Tanner's scene in the boxing ring.  It was brilliant.

The final partner's meeting ... Louis redeemed himself.

And really?  I don't think Harvey will ever go for Managing Partner.  He respects Jessica too much.

I'm really hoping Louis doesn't bully things up.

I still don't like Tess.  And I'm sick of the 'will they, won't they' between Mike and Rachel.

DUDE!  HARVEY AND MIKE GOT HIGH TOGETHER!!!!!

Is is January yet?
sinderella81: (Harvey Specter)
So ... last night ... I don't know if I've had time to fully process it, but ... woah.

Louis totally rocked it - standing up to Jessica and Hardman ...

Harvey trying to be honest and nice ... there was just too much animosity between him and Louis, I think.  I mean. he definitely tried.  Hell, he even told Jessica to have Louis take his office!

I'm glad Rachel passed her LSATs!  She's finally getting more plot instead of just being eye candy.

GRAMMY!  I literally sobbed!  Poor Mike ... I just ... I can't come to grips with it right now.

And the preview for next week!
sinderella81: (Mike Ross)
Okay, so nothing too insightful from last night's ep ... mostly squee!

Harvey in the present ... just ... I ached so hard and wanted to give him a hug.  And him and Jessica working in secret is kinda cool, but I think it sucks they're keeping Mike in the dark a bit on this ...

Mike in the past both cracked me up and made me wanna hug him!  Those shorts and gloves!  And now we really know what set him on that path ... *cuddles Mike*

Louis in the present ... I kinda wanted to throttle him!

Harvey in the past ... with the news of his father ... *sobs* ...

I want Zoe to come back! :D

Only two more episodes before the summer finale?  What will I do until winter?

Some fast and dirty thoughts about last night's ep:

Harvey's mom ... a door has opened!!!

Damn that Tanner!  I'm glad Harvey punched him!

REGINALD!!!!  *flails*

Canon bi!  "Who said I didn't try to sleep with Ted Phillips?" ... said oh so nonchalantly!

LOUIS!!!  He knocked it out of the park!  And he totally loves Donna *nods*

Harvey listened to Mike(his boyfriend) and settled!!

Hardman ... grrrr ... he used the settlement as a way to try to knock Jessica out as Managing Partner ... bastard.

Previews for the Rewind ep!!!  *flails some more*

Gutted ... absolutely gutted.

I mean, sure Harvey in a hoodie and all sweaty and then in a t-shirt was hot, and then seeing him all vulnerable and near tears TWICE was endearing and made Harvey seem more ... real.

BUT!

DONNA!!!  I can't even ... And I know we didn't see what happened when Jessica and Harvey had their talk, and I'm sure Harvey fought for it, but ... damn they'd better make this right.

And I kind of love the fact Harvey was waiting by the elevator.  Some people might hate it, but ... if he wanted to cut her out, he wouldn't have been there.  I think Harvey's going to fight for her.

Still .. GUTTED.

Although, next week we get tuxes ... small consolation
sinderella81: (Fic Tease)
So I was listening to Kevin and Bean on KROQ on my way into work this morning.

They were broadcasting from ComicCon and had one of the 'behind the scenes' people from Kevin and Bean on talking about the '50 Shades of Grey (Suck)' autograph signing that happened yesterday and how the author would only sign 200 copies.

Anyway, Ralph Garman (their entertainment guy) made an off hand comment about fanfic writers being 'crazy' and I then spent the next 10 minutes talking to the radio LOL  I guess it just bugged me that he would make a comment like that, and yes I'm sure he didn't make it to offend anyone.  I wasn't necessarily offended it just ... irked me.

Because, while there are some crazies out there, the majority of us are down to earth, hold down jobs and are all in all normal people LOL

That's it.
sinderella81: (Mike Ross)
So some flaily fun thoughts about last night's ep ...

Grammy!  I love the way she tells Mike the way it is, no bullshit

Mike dreamed about the can opener!!  What was he doing with it?

OMG Harvey and Mike's conversation in the bullpen ... seriously? ROFLMAO!!!!!

Blondie and Junior!  *snort*

Louis/Sheila!!!  Those two need to get together! :D  Their scenes were just super awesome!!!!

Harriet Specter and Michelle Ross.  That is all.

The scene between Harvey and Louis in the bullpen!!!!!!!  I just ... I can see how they used to be when they were associates and it makes me want to see how they got to where they are now ...

Thank goodness Mike didn't kiss Rachel again.

I really can't stand Hardman ... he needs to stop using Harvey's boyfriend against him.

sinderella81: (Harvey Specter)
OMG the feels from last night!!!!  I watched it twice - once on east coast feed and then once from the DVR because I recorded it (the sis is hooked!!!  :D)

So ... some random thoughts

*  Mike really doesn't have as much game as he thinks he does

*  I'm really glad that he broke Rachel's heart ... she flies off the handle, acts first, asks later so ...

*  Donna and Louis scenes are the shit!!!!

*  Harvey in a tux ... GUH!!!!!  Just ... fucking delicious!!!

*  Every Mike and Harvey scene was just ... amazing!!!!

*  Harvey and Jessica ... and that last scene!  The feels!!!!

sinderella81: (DiNozzo/Gibbs)
So I did a meme a few days ago asking people to link to one of my stories and I'd give them background, deleted scenes, or a look into the future ... [livejournal.com profile] gibbsgirlabby asked me about my Waddling!Verse and how it is that men can get pregnant ... I thought I'd give a little bit of an answer to that question, as I've had some more time to think about it ...

So, about 40 or so years before Gibbs and Tony were born there was a change ... an evolution, I guess you could call it.  At first it was just a few men, but then more and more men were being born with this change.  Boys were born with wombs and eggs ... It took some researching but it soon became clear that men were becoming pregnant.  Test after test was done to try to figure out the basics of how everything worked.

So here it is ... if a man is with only with women, then he will never get pregnant ... However, gay men can get pregnant if they have unprotected sex.  The eggs are only released during orgasm ... so if a guy is just jacking off then he'll release an egg, but if there's no sperm then it just ... comes out *blushes* ... and no, men do not menstruate (because I just can't wrap my brain around that LOL)

I haven't quite figured out the birthing process ... it will more than likely involve C-sections ... as I can't think of another way for the babies to come out :D
