My Life ... It's Random

I went in to work late yesterday, around 10:30am because we had a TON of things due to be filed, so I knew I'd be staying late.  By the way, a lot of documents is over 60!!!!!  (I work in a law firm)

I was at work till 4am this morning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Four of us were there till four this morning to get everything filed!  For those of you keeping track, that is a 17.5 hour day.

I got home around 4:15am and fell asleep around 4:30am.  But ... stupid internal alarm clock woke me up at 8:15am this morning!  So I got up, showered and went to Target ...got a big chunk of Xmas shopping done ...

So tired.

Get to work - wrist hurts so I put on brace

9:30- send letter giving ex parte notice

1:15 - attorney decides might not do ex parte

1:30 - talk with attorney and figure out who's hearing ex partes Monday in case need to file it tomorrow.

1:45 - attorney runs in and wants to file today.  Problem.  Internet is down.  No email, no internet, nothing.

2:00 - can't get the papers filed.  Attorney gets pissed.

2:30- try to serve amended ex parte notice and then get stopped because opposing counsel took their motion off calendar so we don't need the ex parte anyway (thank goodness we couldn't file it, right?) ... Send new letter taking ex parte off calendar.

3:00 - attorney gets call from another clerk in another department who tells her that all these motions we wanted to move out to late September are being moved up to August 23 - making oppositions due MONDAY O____o

5:10 - leave work.  Internet is still down.

I was having a pretty good morning.  It was a nice, easy day.

Young lawyer comes in and asks for something.  Doesn't specifically ask me and my coworker who share an office.  Doesn't make sure that we're actually paying attention and not working on something else.  So, neither my coworker or I exactly hear what he's saying.  He says something like' thank you' and storms off.  I heard a bit more than my coworker, so I do a little digging, and then email him with what I can't find and ask for some clarification.  Coworker goes to vent to her sister (HR) and then comes back and starts writing an email to address the situation.

I come back and check my emails and young lawyer has responded to my questions with "I found what I was looking for.  Next time I'll just skip you and (coworker) fighting over who's going to answer me."

Um ... Childish, much?  So I forward the email to office sharing coworker, who responds, copying the two lead attorneys and HR.

Why does he think he can talk to me and my coworker like that?!?!

Then, I was emptying the toner waster container on the copy machine and inhaled the dust through my nose ... I was blowing black shit out of my nose for like an hour.

Don't got 17 hours without eating ... it makes you shaky and cranky and grumpy

I worked a 13.5 hour day yesterday, straight through lunch.  Ate lunch (pizza) at about 2 and didn't leave work till 9:30pm.  Got home and walked the dog before crawling into bed.

Woke up at 7am this morning and ate a thing of string cheese because ... headache.  Ran my errands and then grabbed breakfast from BK because I needed the grease ... my hands were shaking hardcore ... I need to make sure I eat ...

But now, weekend!  Paid a few bills, going to buy the Moulin Rouge soundtrack in iTunes (because my hard copy got stolen) and upload a video of the hail from yesterday afternoon at work ... :D

Yesterday was a DAY! We had oppositions to TWELVE motions due ... it was a total of 28 documents that had to be printed, signed, electronically filed, served via email, overnight delivery and US Mail ...

I got into the office at 7:30 a.m. and didn't climb into my car until a little after 11:00 p.m.! Fifteen and a half hours WITHOUT lunch ...

We would have been there later, but my boss, his daughter and someone else from the office showed up at the office around 10:15 or so and helped us get them all packed up, labeled and posted for mail ... I kind of wish I'd had the time to video my boss ... he was sitting on the floor, jacket and tie off, stuffing documents into envelopes ... AND he offered to take them all to the post office today, so it saved me and my manager from doing it.

But yeah ... tired.

I know I've been awy for a while ... other than posting stuff about 'Suits' LOL

I don't know if I mentioned it before but I got a promotion and another raise!  I'm now a legal assistant and now on salary which is both awesome and horrible LOL

I took my notary class and totes passed!  Just waiting for the background check to go through so I can take my oath and be a notary :)

Our office now has all the fencing along our back balcony to keep kids from breaking our windows and there are these prongs that face outwards and ... yeah.  Uh-huh.  Very attractive LOL ... Although yesterday the people who were doing the welding accidentally set some dry brush on fire ... they got it out quickly but.  Dude.

I'm totes into Suits at the moment (but also waiting for NCIS to come back).  I've written like tons of fics (11 to be exact) and posted them to AO3 :) ... I also signed up for the Small Fandom Big Bang to write for Suits ... 10k ... I can do it, right?

So we were all talking about desserts and stuff at work ... 

And the youngest attorney wanders in and says:  I put sugar on my cake

I heard:  I put sugar on my DICK

To be fair, I was sitting by the typewriter with it on.  But ... O.o  So I had to ask him to clarify because I totally didn't hear what he'd said ... 

I was kind of amusing lol

I have been promoted!  I am no longer a legal clerk, but am now a legal secretary ... I got a pay raise and I don't have to clock in and out anymore!!!

Although I was freaked out for a bit ... the human resources lady said she wanted see me after I clocked out ... So for the last 10 minutes of the day I was replaying the last few weeks wondering what I did ... So, then I get to her office and she asks if I brought Jen (my manager) with me ... I was like 'no' ... So she gets Jen to come in.  Jen's all ... 'Busted!  I'm just kidding' ... omg she scared the crap out of me!

But yes, promotion ... which comes with more responsibilities and ... more money!!!

So yesterday was a DAY!  I was doing something the whole day and I didn't get to clock out until about 5:45 ...

But during the day we were handling something for a couple of clients we have in Germany ... who only speak German.  So we have been using a legal translator for documents, and a college professor for sending emails and such.  Well, we got a couple of documents translated and sent them to the college professor to send to the clients with instructions ...

Well, my boss texts me later in the evening last night and asks if the email went out to the college professor because he didn't see it ... I replied to him that yes, the email did go out, and that he replied to the email and asked to be copied on all communications ...

LOL ... my boss can be a bit forgetful sometimes LOL

So I had to stay at work a little late today - I had to look for something, then email someone to get it, then I had to make a copy of something.

Everyone had left except me, Jen (my manager) and Nicole (one of the attorneys) ... that's right, 3 women.

It was 6:20 and I was about to leave, but the doorbell kept ringing and someone kept banging on the doors ... so Nicole told me not to leave yet ... we started closing things down and were going to leave together ... I spent twenty minutes in the office waiting to see if we could leave ... We finally got someone from next door to walk down with us and ...

It turned out it was the assistant of the lawyer who's leasing an office in our building!  He forgot his key and couldn't remember the code to get in!!!!  We all felt SO SILLY!!!
