sinderella81: (Corset)
So, I'm rereading some of my favorite romance novels.  I just finished reading 'The Kadin' be Bertrice Small and have mvoed onto 'The Love Slave' ...which is the 'girl becomes part of a harem and falls in love with prince/caliph/sultan' and ... I love these books so much and I lose myself in the stories.

And then I finish and remember that the girls joined the harem when they were 13 or 14 ...

But I still love the books!!!!

I actually finished this a while ago, but forgot to do the review *facepalm* ... I'm actually almost done with the fifth book I bought, so that review will come soon LOL

An Unlocked Heart
Since the death of his submissive lover two years ago, Leo hasn’t been living—merely existing. He focuses on making Collars & Cuffs, a BDSM club in Manchester’s gay village, successful. That changes the night he and his business partner have their weekly meeting at Severinos. Leo can’t keep his eyes off the new server. The shy man seems determined to avoid Leo’s gaze, but that’s like a red rag to a bull. Leo loves a challenge.

Alex Daniels works at Severinos to scrape together the money to move out on his own. He struggles with coming out, but he’s drawn to Leo, the gorgeous guy with the icy-blue eyes who’s been eating in his area nearly every night.

Leo won’t let Alex’s hesitance get in the way. He even keeps him away from the club so as not to scare him. And as for telling Alex that Leo is a Dom? Not a good idea. One date becomes two, but date two leads to Leo’s bedroom… and Alex discovers things about himself he never realized—and never wanted anyone to see.

The Replacement Guitarist
Blaze Shinozuka has two goals: get a job as a guitarist and lose his virginity. At an audition for a famous pop star, he draws the attention of celebrity manager Jason Stockton--and their instant attraction sends his world careening off its axis just as he is thrust into the gritty world of rock 'n' roll.

Straight-laced music manager Jason Stockton is always professional and never dips his pen in the company ink. But there is something about Blaze that leaves him wanting what he shouldn't. The guitarist's exotic beauty and compelling innocence is a temptation Jason can't resist.

After one lie in the national media pushes them apart, Blaze must decide whether he will trust Jason, a man he shouldn't touch, let alone love.  The cutthroat, jealous world of rock 'n' roll, has chewed up and spit out the toughest musicians, and Blaze vows he will be the last man standing, even after the music stops.

This gay romance contains very frequent love scenes, drug use and a very angry pop star dead set on coming between two men who will stop at nothing to be together.

Secrets and Ink
If life was like the movies, Jem Mitchell’s wouldn’t be such a mess. In LA’s glittering world of dreams, he works an unglamorous job at a gourmet grocery store. His past is so deep and dark, the details are lost even to him. All he knows is he was once cursed by a meter maid, and ever since, his love life has sucked.

When Detective Nick Davies becomes a regular at the store, Jem dares to hope he’s un-hexed at last. He should have known that sex with a remarkably normal guy, devoid of weird fetishes and fatal personality flaws, was too good to be true.

During a post-encounter cuddle, Nick recognizes the tattoo on Jem’s back—and remembers him as a young hustler he arrested nine years past.

As Jem’s memories come crashing back, he flees from Nick, but fate contrives to keep pushing them back together. And when Jem’s old partner in crime is found murdered, the stakes are raised for life, for love, and a dangerous drama with no guarantee of a Hollywood ending.

Country Mouse
Owen may be a bit of a country mouse, but he’s loving his vacation in London. After a long day playing tourist, he’s on the hunt for some cheap beer and a good burger. Instead he finds a man hunting him, an arrogant prick with only one thing on the brain: the kind of meat that doesn’t come on a bun.

Eighty-hour weeks at a trading desk don’t leave Malcolm Kavanagh much time for meaningful relationships. Besides, in his world, everything’s a competition—even sex. When his newest one-night-sub fails to show, Malcolm sets his sights on the pretty young Yank on the bar stool beside him.

Owen’s all for an adventure with a native, but he’s not the pushover Malcolm thinks he is, and Malcolm’s not as shallow as he tries to be. They both soon learn that nothing's too intimate to share with a stranger, and the strangest things happen when two people share the most important pieces of their hearts

Two days in a row?  Wow ... go me?

Anyway, I got a Kindle giftcard from a co-worker for Christmas and decided to use a huge chunk of it yesterday ... I bought five books that sounded really good ...and if they suck, well, it wasn't my money LOL

Here are the ones I bought:

BOOKS!!!! )

Can't wait to give these all a read!!!
sinderella81: (Bondage)
Have any of my friends here read this series?  It's be Cherise Sinclair ... it's all centered around a club called the Shadowlands and their various Masters

There are 8 books ... I just got 7 and 8 and decided to reread the series from first to last

It's really a great erotic read, but it's also got good plot and intriguing storylines.   A little bit formula, but I can't stop reading them!
sinderella81: (Do Not Disturb)
I've read a couple of books lately and thought I'd let you guys know how they were :D

**The first book I read was 'Wishes' by J.C. Owens.  The summary reads as follows:  Sex slave to an alien culture...

Lt. Auri finds his job aboard the diplomatic cruiser both frustrating and exhausting, but he's determined to prove himself to his new captain. Despite the diplomatic importance of their mission, Auri is wary of the catlike Felinians, who have a reputation for enjoying human company, willing or not. But when he's ordered to witness the signing of the trade papers with the Felininans, Auri never imagines that he's about to be betrayed.

Sold into an alien culture, Auri finds himself the newest man in the Felinian leader's erotic harem. Kanar claims him as his "mate," but Auri longs for freedom. Though his feelings for Kanar begin to grow, Auri stubbornly refuses the Felininan and the other men of his harem, leading to loneliness and grief. But how can he open himself up to his captor, and to the love of more than one partner?

My thoughts:  This one was cute!  Not as long as I thought it was going to be.  It went a bit fast, but it was adorable ... like a Harlequin romance novel, just m/m with some aliens thrown in!  The Felinians are ... like felines ... with fur and the ears.  It worked though, and it wasn't a huge focus of the story.  It's a good poolside read and you can get through it in a couple of hours.

**I just finished another one last night.  'How to Save a Life (Haven)' by Sloan Parker.  The summary reads as follows:  Reporter Kevin Price has a knack for tripping over his own feet. And everyone else's. He's in over his head undercover at the Haven, a swanky gay sex club, determined to find out why members of the club keep vanishing. Five minutes inside and he can no longer deny the truth about his sexuality. He turns to the one man he can't get out of his head, the sexy ex-cop handling security. Too bad Kevin doesn't trust cops. Not since the only night he let himself be with another man.

Walter Simon doesn't do the club scene anymore. Not since he found love and lost it. That doesn't mean he'll let anyone hurt more innocent gay men. Even if that means going head-to-head with the klutzy, closeted, much-younger reporter. Kevin has information about the disappearances. Better to keep him close. And safe.

Neither is at the club to hook up or fall in love. Now they must work together amid their growing passion in order to uncover the truth before more men disappear.

My thoughts:  O. M. G!!!  I'm going to buy everything else Sloan Parker has written!  This book was absolutely amazing!  I really had to fight to put my Kindle down during my lunch breaks at work because I just wanted to keep reading!  There was romance and sex and intrigue and it kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.  And it was logical!  When things got in their way or there were certain situations, they went about it logically!  Which is refreshing!  While some of the mystery of the book was predictable, not all of it was, which was nice as it gave me a few surprises!  I enjoyed the pacing and how real the characters were.  I really love the chemistry between Kevin and Walter and that it didn't matter that Walter was almost 20 years older than Kevin ... the way their relationship evolved was beautiful.

Sorry for the rambling LOL ... I'm off to do some more reading now!

I had some Kindle money from Christmas, and I decided to buy a new book to read!

Here's the description:

Goddess, I forgot how much I loved the House of Night series by P.C and Kristin Cast ... I just finished the 7th book, Burned and I ordered Awakened from Amazon (this series I like to read in hard copy, not on my Kindle)

P.C. and Kristin have such a way with words ... they manage to keep me interested, on the edge of my seat, and make me laugh all at the same time. Their timing and sense of humoar ar amazing and I love each and every book ... There are 8 books in the series, with the 9th coming out this summer ... I just finished 7, so now I'm waiting for 8 LOL

One example of their humor:

"Yeah, 'cause we think you're like Rachel on Glee," Shaunee said. "Super annoying, but she has to be in the show 'cause sometimes she comes up with good stuff and kinda sorta saves the day."

Also, they reference a character named Becky Renee Apples, a girl whose mother monogrammed 'BRA' on all her sweaters ... tell me that isn't funny.

Now I have to sit and wait for the 8th book to come *twiddles thumbs*

So, I've recently bought some books for my Kindle :D

I finished one of them today ... It's called 'His for the Holidays' and it's a collection of four stories ...

The first story is Mistletoe at Midnight and it's a cute story about a guy who gets a second chance with his first love from high school ... it's really cute.  The main character is surrounded by his wacky family and at some points I was literally laughing outloud!  Of course, the two men get each other in the end and it's a sweet story!

The second one is Nine Lights Over Edinburgh and it's about a man who's played at straight but is now divorced from his wife, but they have a child together ... he meets a Mossad agent and the sparks fly (of course)  Before anything can happen, the lead character's daughter gets kidnapped and the Mossad agent and him team up to get her back ...

Third is I Heard Him Exclaim ... this I think might be my favorite.  A man who used to play Santa all the time had a literal change of heart -- he almost has a heart attack and has to get on a doctor imposed health kick -- suddenly he's in the best shape ever but he's lost the spirit of Christmas.  He decides to head to Vegas ... halfway there he runs into a younger man with a little girl ... turns out the young girl is the guy's niece, and he's her guardian because her mom and dad died just after Thanksgiving.  Santa and the young guy hit it off really well ... Santa takes the young girl and the guy to his house after the young man's car breaks down and ... the find the spirit of Christmas together :D ... the one drawback (although it's miniscule) is that the older Santa is a bear looking for a cub ... I'm just not that into hairy men ...

Fourth is Icecapade ... this one is the shortest, but pretty cute.  A cat-burglar seduces an FBI agent and then disappears.  Ten years later, the cat burglar is an author who's using his old crimes for fodder ... and the FBI agent is a character in the books.  The FBI agent shows up at the (former) burglar's house, trying to implicate him in a string of robberies ... although pretty short, it was really cute ... I giggled a couple times and smiled a lot ...

I have three more new books to read :D

With Love: A With or Without Story by J.L. Langley
A Dangerous Love by Bertrice Small
Goddess of Legend by P.C. Cast (part of the Goddess Summoning Series, a favorite series of mine)
