So I made it home safe and sound ... I took over 200 pictures, so ... I'll have to figure out which ones to post tomorrow LOL
So, here's a breakdown of my trip:
Friday:
Left the house at about 7 in the morning and got on the freeway a little after ... 6.75 hours later, I arrived at
krissielee 's house! From there we headed towards Old Sacramento and walked around a bit ... we even went to the Railroad Museum and explored a bit. After that we headed to the theater and saw Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and OMG! That movie is so much fun!!!!!!!
Saturday:
We got up early and drove over to Vallejo, where we caught the ferry into San Francisco. We got into port at the Port of San Francisco, right across from our hotel, the Hyatt Regency ... it's amazing!! The lobby alone ... wow. We totally lucked out!!!
michelle_connor met us there at the hotel and we caught a trolley all the way over to Pier 39 where we wandered around there for a bit, checking out the sea lions and the shops. Then we wandered down past the Boudin sourdough bread factory over to Ghiradelli Square. We wandered around there for a bit, but Miche hurt her ankle so we waited for her hubby to come get us ... Right around that time it started to rain ... and then it started to rain harder. We took shelter in a little alcove until Miche's husband arrived, and he drove us back to the hotel where (after we grabbed some dinner across the street) we hung out for the night.
Sunday:
We got up early again. This time we caught a bus towards the Palace of the Fine Arts. The bus was pretty crowded, and along the way both Krissie and I got molested by the same man ... He was pressed up against my back the whole time until I could sit down and apparently both his hands were holding on to the rails, but there was something that was NOT his hand poking my buttcheek ... *shudder* ... So we got off the bus at the Palace of the Fine Arts and walked to the Presidio where the Walt Disney Family Heritage Museum is ... that museum is totally awesome! I could have spent the whole day there and been happy.
But we were there for a couple hours, and then walked back to the Palace of the Fine Arts where we caught the same bus back towards Pier 39, where we went to the Ripley's Believe it or Not museum (totally fun), the Mirror Maze (totally fun!) and the Wax Museum!!!!! After that we headed towards the bus again and caught it up to Chinatown.
We got a late lunch/early dinner at this great restaurant right off the main street where we got a TON of food. Won-ton soup, spring rolls, chicken fried rice, beef and broccoli and sweet and sour pork ... and we went home with leftovers! We tried to get a bus back to the Embarcadero, but we couldn't get a bus at all! So ... we walked. From Chinatown. Down to Market Street. Yes, we're nuts. THEN! We couldn't get a trolley to the Castro! So we walked another 6-10 blocks or something down to the Bart station and rode the subway down to the Castro and hung out there for about 30 minutes or so. We were worried about getting our ferry back to Vallejo.
So, we got to the ferry station at like ... 7:30? Turns out the next ferry didn't leave till 9:00 ... so we hung out around the port until then, because we really didn't have time to do anything else.
Got back to the car at a little before 10 and I fell into bed a little after 11.
Today:
Woke up early, showered and got everything packed up. Spent a couple of hours lounging around and then headed out. Got on the freeway home about 10:30 and got home about 5:50 ... it wouldn't have taken that long, but there was an accident and two sections of construction on the 5 freeway before I even got to the Grapevine ... *sigh* But I'm home now and very happy that I have tomorrow off LOL
