The lights were still flashing when Harvey reached the ambulance. He knew he should have had Ray drive Mike home. He watched as the EMT checked Mike's eyes with a flashlight.
"I'm fine," Mike protested.
"Let them check you out," Harvey said, hands in his pockets to keep from cupping Mike's face and making sure he really was okay.
When the EMT finally released Mike, Harvey waited until the ambulance had left before pulling Mike in close and pressing his lips to Mike's temple.
"I'm fine," Mike whispered, although he leaned into Harvey's embrace. He'd barely been clipped by the cab, coming away with just a couple of scratches. He was more scared than anything.
"I ... " Harvey sighed and hugged Mike tighter. "You scared me. I don't what I'd do if you ... "
