Summary:
Taking place in the middle of Season 8, Clark is living a double life. By day, he is the naïve, stumbling farm boy, working as a reporter at the Daily Planet. At night, he is the lover of Lex Luthor (long presumed dead), battling the secret machinations of Oliver Queen and preparing to take his place as the final authority in the world.
Author’s Notes/Warning/Disclaimer/ Spoilers:  Slight spoilers for the whole series. Smallville and its characters do not belong to me, I just enjoy playing with them!

Impulse and Arsenal kept a close watch on the front door as Thunder, Centrix, Empress and Faith searched through Oliver’s penthouse for the last stash of Kryptonite. Empress had teleported herself into the large vault once they’d found it. Thunder passed through the wall to enter as well.

“Shit,” Thunder said. “He’s got a ton … We’d best start moving … it might take a while … “

Empress nodded and began to teleport the Kryptonite from the vault to the destruction center they’d created. Thunder began to pass through the vault with the Kryptonite and pass it to Faith, who flew off with as much as she could carry. It was an arduous task.

“So, this is the last of it?” Arsenal asked Impulse, who smiled and nodded.

“This is it,” Impulse replied. “And you know who found it? My girl!”

“Wait, Watchtower, who works with Queen, found the Kryptonite?” Arsenal asked.

“Yep,” Impulse replied. “That’s my girl!”

Arsenal just laughed a bit. “So, she’s gonna leave Queen’s operation soon?” he asked.

Impulse nodded. “Once all of this Kryptonite is gone, Chloe’s gonna give Queen her notice,” he said. “She’s not comfortable working for him anymore, for obvious reasons.”

“I can understand that,” Arsenal replied.

“Why did I come if I wasn’t going to do anything?” Centrix asked as he wandered over to stand with Impulse and Arsenal.

“You can keep watch with us,” Impulse said. “Bossman’s honey has something about even numbers … so Bossman sent six of us, equal number of guys and girls.”

“Whatever,” Centrix said. “I was kinda hoping to smash something.”

“We didn’t want to deal with Queen,” Impulse said. “CK’s gonna do that.”

“We just the joy of pissing the asshole off before Clark beats him down,” Faith said as she flew back in to get the next load of Kryptonite. “Imaging Mr. High-and-Mighty coming back from his date with Lois Lane and finding that his last stash of Kryptonite is gone, yet his vault hasn’t been opened.”

“Wish I could be here to see his face,” Thunder said with a laugh as she set one more load outside the vault. Empress arrived back in the penthouse with a ‘pop’ and snatched the load of Kryptonite Thunder had just removed.

“That was the last of it,” Thunder said.

“Really? We’re done?” Centrix asked. “Does that mean I can go on patrol? I wanna get some of this energy out.”

“I say go ahead,” Arsenal said. “As long as we’re done here … “

“Sounds fine with me,” Impulse said. “I’ll go see the bossman and let him know that all the Kryptonite is gone.”

They all waited for Empress to come back from her last drop before heading out, leaving the penthouse exactly as they had found it … minus the Kryptonite.

“ … And the banker said, “Yes he certainly was trusted. And he will be tried as soon as we catch him!” Oliver finished the joke with a laugh as he walked Lois back to her car. Lois chuckled and gave Oliver a smile.

“I had a lot of fun tonight,” Lois said.

“I did, too,” Oliver said. “We should do this again, soon.”

“I’d like that,” Lois said as they came to a stop next to Lois’ car. She leaned up and pressed a soft kiss to Oliver’s cheek. “Don’t be a stranger.” She climbed in her car and drove off.

Oliver smiled and watched her go, hands in his pockets. He’d missed hanging out with Lois, even if it was only as friends.

“What was that?”

Oliver turned and saw AC come out of the shadows. “AC, what are you doing?” he asked.

“Following you,” AC said. “And it’s a good thing I did. I thought you were going out to dinner with and old school mate. That certainly didn’t look like and old school mate. That looked like your ex-girlfriend.”

“AC,” Oliver said. “It was just dinner. You know I love you, baby.”

“Don’t ‘baby’ me,” AC said. “You’ve probably been seeing her for months. I’ve seen that green ring on your finger. Did she get it for you? Is it some declaration of love from her to you?”

Oliver bit back a groan. He loved AC, really he did. But sometimes, his lover could be a bit clingy. “AC, listen to me, okay? Lois and I are just friends, going out for a meal together. The ring is not a gift from her, but something I made for myself. I love you.”

AC put his hands on his hips and pouted. “I don’t believe you,” he said.

“What do I need to do to prove to you that I’m being honest?” Oliver asked.

“First, you have to swear on your own life that Lois is just a friend,” AC said, still pouting.

“I swear on my own life that Lois is just a friend, nothing more,” Oliver said, stepping closer to AC and giving him a soft smile.

“Thank you,” AC said. “Second, you need to get rid of that ring. I still don‘t believe that Lois didn‘t give you that thing.”

Oliver looked down at the green ring that decorated his finger. It didn’t really mean that much to him, and he had plenty more Kryptonite back at the penthouse with which to make a new ring. He smiled and slid the ring off his finger, resting it on the bus bench next to where they were standing.

“There, gone,” Oliver said with a smile. “It was a bit gaudy anyway.”

AC smiled and gave Oliver a soft kiss. “One more thing,” he said.

“What?” Oliver asked.

“You have to take me home and fuck me so hard that I can’t walk tomorrow,” AC said with a grin.

“Oh I can definitely do that,” Oliver said, putting his hand on AC’s waistband and pulling him to his car. AC laughed and followed, feeling horny as hell.

Once they were gone, Bart slipped out of the shadows and grabbed the ring. He’d make sure it got to the destruction facility. It was the last piece of Kryptonite. Clark could move forward with his plans.

Oliver pressed a kiss to AC’s cheek before crawling out of bed. He’d worn his lover out with their bedroom activities. He stretched and pulled on a green silk robe as he padded across the bedroom and into his private study. He moved the tapestry on the wall and punched in the appropriate code to open the large vault.

The door opened and Oliver stared in shock. It was gone … all gone!

“What the hell?” he said as he stepped all the way into the vault and turned in a slow circle. “How the fuck did this happen?”

There was no way that anyone could have gotten into his vault. He was the only person that had the combination for the vault - no one could have gotten in there! He turned to the door and punched it as hard as he could. “Fuck!” he said, wincing and rubbing his hand.

All his plans were ruined.

* * *

Clark pressed a gentle kiss to Lex’s temple as he rolled out of bed. He and Lex had spent a very relaxing night together, just holding each other and chatting. He gave his lover a smile as he slipped on a robe and padded into the living room of the seaside cabin to the small laptop by the large window. He powered up the laptop and watched the waves through the window as he waited for everything to load.

He saw a new message from Bart, opened it and read it quickly. The words sank in and Clark leaned back in his chair, almost breathless. “Oh my God,” he murmured. “Oh my God … it’s done.”

“What’s done?” Lex asked from the doorway.

Clark turned and gave his lover a dazed look. “I just got an email from Bart … “

“And?” Lex said, moving through the living room to stand next to Clark.

“It’s done,” Clark whispered.

“You mean … “ Lex murmured.

“The last piece of Kryptonite has been taken to the destruction center,” Clark said. “There is no more Kryptonite on this planet to harm me … “

Lex moved around to plop in Clark’s lap, wrapping his arms around his lover’s neck. “That’s wonderful news,” he said.

“Now, we just need to find our headquarters and … put our plans in motion,” Clark said, kissing Lex gently, his hands running up and down Lex’s back.

“Later,” Lex murmured, eagerly returning the kisses. He pushed Clark’s robe off his shoulders and began to pepper Clark’s skin with kisses.

“Mmmmm, yeah … later,” Clark said, leaning down to nibble at Lex’s jaw. “How about we go back to bed and … celebrate.”

“I like that idea,” Lex said, wiggling on Clark’s lap.

“Christ,” Clark groaned. “Bed. Now.” He wrapped his arms around Lex and stood, carrying Lex to the bedroom and dropping him on the bed with a smile.

Lex bounced a couple times before sliding out of his sleep pants and spreading out on the bed. “Want you,” he murmured.

“You can have me,” Clark murmured, stripping off his robe and pants and crawling onto the bed.

Lex smiled and wrapped his arms around Clark, pulling him close. “Celebratory sex is the best,” he murmured, arching off the bed to rub his cock against Clark’s, smiling when Clark groaned appreciatively.

“Tease,” Clark said, reaching down to wrap a hand around Lex’s cock.

“Yes,” Lex hissed, pulling his knees to his chest needily. “Please, Clark?”

“You want this?” Clark asked, nudging his cock into the crease of Lex’s ass teasingly.

“Please?” Lex whimpered.

Clark smiled and reached around his lover, grabbing for the lube in the nightstand drawer. “Patience,” he murmured as he slicked himself up.

Lex reached up and pulled Clark’s cock down. ‘Patience is not one of my virtues, Farmboy,” he said teasingly.

“Farmboy?” Clark said with a laugh. “I haven’t been a farm boy since I left high school … “ He leaned down and pressed just the tip of his cock into Lex.

“If … If I apologize … “ Lex said breathily. “Will you … please … fuck me?”

Clark stilled and looked down at Lex, obviously considering it. “You have to be really, really sincere,” he said.

Lex nodded. “I am exceedingly sorry for calling you a farm boy,” he said, panting softly.

“And you’ll never do it again,” Clark said, pulling out just a bit.

Lex whimpered and nodded. “And I’ll never do it again,” he panted.

“Good boy,” Clark said with a smile, sliding in until he was balls deep inside Lex.

Lex cried out and wrapped his legs around Clark’s waist, pulling him in closer.

Clark smiled and braced his hands on the bed as he began to thrust, deep hard thrusts. “Fucking love you,” he whispered.

Lex gave Clark a dazed smile as he gave himself over to his lover. “Love you,” he replied. He wrapped a hand around his cock, stroking himself in unison with Clark’s thrusts.

Clark stared down at Lex, leaning down to capture his lover’s lips in a passionate kiss as he came hard.

Lex gasped against Clark’s lips, the feeling of Clark coming inside him causing him to come as well.

Clark gave Lex a smile as he slid out, scooting down and licking Lex’s cock and stomach clean. “You taste good,” he murmured.

Lex whimpered softly as he felt Clark’s tongue gently licking him clean. “If I wasn’t so tired … we might have a second go,” he murmured.

Clark chuckled and crawled up to pillow his head on Lex’s chest. “I think we’re good for now,” he mumbled. “Plans are going forward … “

“We’re almost there, baby,” Lex replied. “Just a bit longer … “

“I’m … God, I’m scared as hell,” Clark said. “Scared and nervous … “

“You’re going to be the best ruler this world has ever seen,” Lex said, running his hand through Clark’s hair soothingly.

“I can just hope,” Clark whispered. “Once I take power, there’s nothing and no one to stop me … I just hope I can make this world a better place.”

“You will,” Lex said, wrapping an errant curl around his finger. “You will change this world.”

* * *

“It’s time,” Clark said, later in the week.

“Time?” Lex asked.

“It’s time for us to go back to the city,” Clark said, packing up the small seaside bungalow.

“Now?” Lex asked.

“I want people to start … catching glimpses of you,” Clark said with a smile.

“What, like Elvis sightings?” Lex asked with a grin.

“Exactly like that,” Clark replied with a wink.

“It will be weird going back to the city,” Lex said. “I’m so used to being here … “

“I know,” Clark said, wrapping Lex in a hug. “But … you need to get used to being back in the city. And I don’t want it to be a complete surprise when you show up with me at the United Nations.”

“And the reason for that is?” Lex said.

“It’s just another way to keep them all on their toes,” Clark said with a grin.

“Sneaky alien,” Lex said with a laugh.

“That’s me,” Clark said, giving Lex a sweet kiss.

“Where are we going to stay?” Lex asked.

“You can stay at my office building,” Clark said. “There’s a shower and a sauna, and big bedroom … “

“Sounds very nice,” Lex said.

“And the bedroom is soundproof,” Clark added with a wink.

“Okay, I’m sold,” Lex said with a smile.

Clark laughed and gave Lex a gentle hug. “When you go out, wear hats and glasses, but make sure you’re seen,” he said.

“You and your schemes,” Lex said with a smile. “I can’t imagine what people will say when they find out that the new ruler of the world is going to have Lex Luthor sitting at his right hand.”

“They’re all just going to have to deal with it,” Clark said. “I’m not going to give you up.”

“Good, because the feeling is mutual,” Lex said. “All right … let’s … go back to the city.”

* * *

“Someone else said they saw Luthor!” Lois said as she breezed into the Planet and plopped at her desk, nearly knocking over her cup of coffee.

“That’s what, the fourth sighting this month?” Clark asked, biting back a smile. His lover was getting very good at his disappearing act.

“People swear that they’re seeing him!” Lois said.

“People also swear that they see Elvis at least once a month,” Clark added, smiling innocently at Lois when she shot a glare his way.

“He’s alive, Clark,” Lois said, logging onto her computer.

“He’s been declared dead,” Clark said. “He was lost in what, the Arctic? No one survives that.”

“I still say he’s out there,” Lois said. “And he’s planning something.”

“Lois, even if he did manage to survive, why would he let himself be declared dead?” Clark asked. “He’s lost all control of his business.”

“Do I look like I walk around inside Lex Luthor’s head?” Lois asked, rolling her eyes.

Clark bit back a laugh as he looked through is own notes for his latest story. Hidden under his notes were estates in the English countryside that Lex had been looking at for them to purchase. “What are we going to do with 24 bedrooms?” Clark muttered as he looked at the printout of Lex’s favorite piece of property in England, some estate called Shrubland Hall.

“What was that?” Lois asked, looking up from where she was working on some story or another.

“Nothing,” Clark said, ducking his head and putting on the façade of the naïve farm boy.

“Yeah well, keep the muttering to a minimum, I’m working,” Lois said.

Clark peeked out from under long lashes as he watched Lois plod away on her computer. “What story anyway?” he asked.

“About … the reappearance of Lex Luthor,” Lois said.

“I’m sorry, what?” Clark asked.

“I interviewed some people on the street about his reappearance,” Lois said. “And with the fact that his body was never found … “

Clark rolled his eyes as he went back to looking estates in the United Kingdom. He was leaning towards Shrubland Hall … although what they would do with 24 rooms, he didn’t know. If Lois was going to run with the article, she might just run into a few problems.

“ … And someone said that Lex Luthor gave him $200,” Lois was rambling on. “Didn’t even ask for it.”

“So, if Lex Luthor has returned, then he’s giving away money,” Clark said. “He’s doing something nice.”

“For a reason,” Lois said. “He’s lulling people into a sense of security, then he’s going to hit us with the big scheme!”

Clark just rolled his eyes again and made a note to tell Lex to be a bit more careful from then on when making his ‘appearances’. Just then, his cell phone rang, with Thunder’s picture.

“Kent,” he said softly. “He is? … Okay … no, keep on him and let me know what’s going on … No, don’t call again, I’m at work … Text is fine … Anissa, it’s fine … Yes, I’ll try to get out of here and meet with you … No! No, don’t engage. Just. Follow. Yes … meeting there is fine. Yes … thank you … Bye.” He hung up and pocketed his cell phone, barely noticing Lois’ confused stare.

“What the hell was all that?” Lois asked, setting her pen down to really look at Clark.

“What?” Clark said, putting on the innocent act.

“You know what,” Lois said. “Who was that on the phone with you? What was that all about?’

“Lois,” Clark said. “It really isn’t any of your business.”

“Bullshit,” Lois said. “You’re my partner - everything about you is my business.”

“Now that’s just bullshit,” Clark said, glaring at her. “I don’t ask you about your personal life. Therefore, do not ask me about mine.” He shut down his computer and stood up, squaring his shoulders and staring her down. “I do not have to tell you a damn thing.”

Lois gaped at the man standing in front of her. He was standing tall, looking her right in the eye. He wasn’t blushing or stammering like she was used to. This was not the man that she’d been working with for almost a year. “What happened to you, Clark?” she asked.

Clark sighed and ran a hand through his hair. “Nothing happened to me,” he said. “Frankly, I’m just tired of you trying to stick your nose into my life. It is my life.”

“Fine, fine, it’s your life,” Lois said. “I’ll just ignore every odd thing that happens. Like you getting phone calls from girls named Anissa and talking about not following him … “

“If you must know,” Clark said. “Anissa is a friend of mine who thinks her boyfriend is cheating on her … she’s been following him. I told her not to antagonize him and I’ll meet her later.”

“Oh,” Lois said, her face falling. It was evident that she was hoping for a juicy story.

“Yeah,” Clark said, gathering his stuff together. “I should go. I promised Anissa I’d meet her.”

“I’m going to stay here, work on my story,” Lois said quietly.

“I’ll see you later,” Clark said. “Just … be careful with that story, okay? Some people don’t necessarily want Lex alive.”

* * *

“You want Shrubland Hall?” Lex said, smiling as Clark entered the office.

“I don’t know what we’ll do with all those rooms, but it looks beautiful,” Clark said, wrapping his arms around Lex in a gentle hug.

“I’m glad,” Lex murmured. “I’ll send the email from your account tomorrow and start the paperwork. How was work?”

“Good,” Clark said, pulling Lex over to the couch. “Lois is writing a story about you and your mysterious sightings. You need to be careful, baby … “

“I am being careful,” Lex said, snuggling into Clark’s embrace.

“I just worry,” Clark murmured.

“I know,” Lex said. “And no one will believe anything Lois writes anyway … “

Clark chuckled and kissed Lex gently. “Oliver’s pissed,” he said.

“Really?” Lex asked.

Clark nodded. “He’s been prowling the streets, looking for some very seedy contacts who he once got Kryptonite from,” he said.

“Naughty boy,” Lex said with a laugh. “He’s going to find out that it’s all gone … “

“And then he’s going to be very, very angry,” Clark replied. He pressed a soft kiss to Lex’s cheek as he snuggled down into the couch. “This is nice … you and me.”

“It’s been so hard,” Lex agreed. “Trying to hate you in public, love you in private … “

“We’ll drop the act soon,” Clark said. “I just want to be with you always.”

“We will be,” Lex said. “Forever.”

* * *

Oliver paced back and forth on the balcony of his penthouse. “No one has any … where the hell did it all go? It couldn’t all have just disappeared … “ He was murmuring to himself as he paced. He couldn’t understand how it could all have just vanished.

“You won’t find anymore,” Clark said, slowly floating down and landing on Oliver’s balcony.

“Clark, this is a surprise,” Oliver said. “What brings you here?”

“I just came to let you know that there is no Kryptonite left on this planet,” Clark said. “It’s all been destroyed.”

“What … I mean, I’m not - “

“Cut the bullshit, Oliver,” Clark said. “I know what you were doing. Creating an army of Kryptonite enhanced soldiers? You would never have been able to control them.”

“How do you know? I could have controlled them! I was working on it!” Oliver said, eyes wide.

“You think we haven’t been watching you? I’ve known you’ve been hoarding Kryptonite for months, Oliver. It just took me a while to figure out what you were doing with it.”

“You … you couldn’t have hacked my files,” Oliver said.

“Actually, I probably could have, I just didn’t think to,” Clark said. “Actually, Chloe hacked it and found everything out.” He leaned against the balcony, almost at ease.

“Chloe? But … she’s part of my team,” Oliver said.

“Yes, but she got suspicious,” Clark said. “Never hide things from Chloe … she’ll figure them out eventually.”

Oliver stared at Clark, hardly daring to believe what the younger man was telling him. “So, why are you here, telling me all of this?” Oliver asked.

“I just wanted you to know … stop looking for something you’re never going to find,” Clark said. “And … I wouldn’t suggest looking for other ways to make your army. Change is on the horizon.”

“You’re being awfully cryptic there, Clark,” Oliver said. “One might think you were planning something.”

“I know lots of things,” Clark said. “And I know you shouldn’t have been messing with Kryptonite. And now that it’s gone … you should stick to your business and the boy warming your bed.”

Oliver huffed just a bit. “And if I don’t?” he asked.

“You really don’t want to get on my bad side, Oliver,” Clark said. “I could do unspeakable things and no one would ever find you … I wouldn’t suggest trying it.”

Oliver gulped, seeing a look in Clark’s eyes he’d never seen before … rage.

“I leave you with a warning, Oliver,” Clark said. “Leave your machinations and experiments … try them again and I can’t promise you will come out alive.” With that, Clark took off, leaving Oliver alone on the balcony with his thoughts.

* * *

Clark packed up his belongings from his desk at the Planet.

“What are you doing?” Lois asked, setting her stuff down and giving Clark a curious stare.

“I put in my notice,” Clark said.

“You what?” Lois asked.

“I quit,” Clark said simply.

“Why?” Lois said.

“I decided that journalism was just something I didn’t want to do anymore,” Clark said, adding the last few things to his box.

“But … you love journalism,” Lois said.

“I thought I did,” Clark said. “But I was wrong.”

“So, what are you going to do now?” Lois asked.

“Thinking of leaving the country for a while,” Clark said softly.

“Leaving the … but why?” Lois asked. She had gotten used to seeing Clark around, fumbling and spilling coffee and making dumb jokes.

“I think I just need to get out of here for a while … explore the world,” Clark said.

“But … “ Lois stopped and stared at Clark. “What about us … I mean, our work relationship.”

“I’m sure you’ll get a new partner,” Clark said, hoisting his box and giving Lois a smile before starting to walk away.

“I … yeah, I guess so,” Lois said softly. “Hey Smallville!”

Clark turned and gave Lois a smile.

“Keep in touch?” Lois said softly.

“Oh you’ll see me again,” Clark said with a smile. He gave her a wave as he left the Planet.

* * *

The last of the boxes had been moved and Clark and Lex were ensconced in Shrubland Hall.

“There are too many rooms,” Clark said. “What are we going to do with all these rooms?”

“Mark each and every one of them as ours,” Lex said, nibbling on Clark’s ear.

“That’s a fantastic idea,” Clark said. “And we don’t have enough furniture to fill this place … “

“All of that will come later,” Lex said, wrapping his arms around his lover. “How long?”

“How long?” Clark asked. “How long until we make our move? Very soon … things are happening. Chloe, Bart and the team are helping all around the world … it should only be a few weeks.” He ran his hands up and down Lex’s back. “Remind me again why I’m doing this … “

“You are going to make this world a better place,” Lex said, pulling Clark through the large mansion to their bedroom. “You’re going to get rid of war, and famine and unemployment … this world is going to so much better with you.”

“I need to hear that sometimes,” Clark said, sitting on the edge of the bed.

“I’ll tell you as many times as you need to hear it, baby,” Lex said, pushing Clark down on to the bed and straddling his hips. “You are so amazing … “

Clark moaned and smiled up at his lover. “I love you,” he murmured, reaching under Lex’s shirt to twist and tease Lex’s nipples, smiling when Lex gasped and moaned.

“Fucking tease,” Lex breathed, reaching down to undo Clark’s pants.

Clark smiled and helped, tossing his pants and underwear onto the ground before helping Lex with his own pants. Soon, they were both naked from the waist down and Lex was wiggling on Clark’s hips.

“Christ,” Clark gasped as he yanked at Lex’s shirt, exposing his lightly freckled chest to his gaze. “Beautiful … “

Lex reached down and managed to get Clark’s shirt off and on the floor, hands reaching down to Clark’s nipples. “So good, baby,” Lex breathed as he managed to lift himself and impale himself on Clark’s hard cock.

“Fuck!” Clark cried, one hand teasing Lex’s nipples as the other stroked Lex’s cock.

Lex whimpered and bucked against Clark, feeling himself on the edge of orgasm. “Please … Clark, please!”

“Come,” Clark whispered, stroking Lex’s cock faster. “Come for me!”

Lex came on Clark‘s command, clamping around his lover as he continued to buck and scream Clark’s name.

Clark levitated a few feet off the bed when he came, hands on Lex’s hips. When they both finally came down from the high of orgasm, Clark found himself gently floating back down onto the bed. He pulled Lex down, and Lex gladly acquiesced, resting his head on Clark’s chest.

“I love you,” Lex whispered.

“We’ll inaugurate all of Shrubland Hall this way,” Clark mumbled. “Airgasms in every room … “

“Airgasms?” Lex asked, chuckling softly.

“What, you don’t like it?” Clark asked.

“You’re a dork and I love you,” Lex murmured, yawning wide.

“Sleep my love,” Clark murmured.

“Mmmm, yes,” Lex replied, reaching around for the covers. He tucked them around himself and Clark, snuggling down and drifting off to sleep.

* * *

“I can do this,” Clark murmured to himself as he stood outside the United Nations.

“You can do this,” Lex agreed. They were standing together outside the Visitor’s Entrance of the United Nations. “Just go in there and make yourself known. You’ve practiced your speech tons of times … you’re going to be great.”

“As long as you’re there,” Clark said softly. He tugged a bit at his tie, smoothed down his hair.

“Stop fidgeting,” Lex said with a loving smile. “It’s time … no more stalling.”

“But … “ Clark started.

“No ‘buts’,” Lex said. He led Clark into the United Nations, paying the twenty five dollar fee for both of them get tickets for one of the tours. They stood in the visitor’s lobby, looking around for a few minutes until Lex tugged on Clark’s hand. “Come on.”

Together, they snuck through the lobby into the main building, being very quiet until they reached the main chamber. Lex quietly pried the door open, and could see the cameras and all of the members in session.

“Everyone’s there,” Lex whispered.

“Okay,” Clark said. He quickly slipped out of his suit and tie, revealing a black, spandex unitard that covered him from neck to wrist to feet. A large silver ‘S’ was emblazoned across his chest, and a long black cape flowed behind him. “I’m ready.”

Lex gave him a reassuring smile before sneaking in and standing near the door, pleased that he hadn’t been noticed.

Moments later, the room was filled with yells as a black blur sped through the room, coming to a stop at the front of the room, hovering above everyone.

Clark hovered until he knew he had everyone’s attention.

“Hello. I imagine this was not what you pictured happening today. My name is Kal-El. I am the last Son of Krytpon. I arrived here in 1989 in a meteor shower and was adopted by human parents. I went to human schools, grew up with you. But I am not one of you. I have watched you for years; fighting, trying to be the one with the most land, the most power. I am not here to enslave you or take your freedom. What I am offering is peace, an end to the petty squabbles.”

Lex stood at the back, encouraging his lover with a soft smile. This was his destiny.

~In Metropolis~

… Lois Lane had just sat down to some lunch when she looked up at the television to see her former partner on the screen, talking about being an alien from another planet. “What?” she screamed, dumping her tuna salad unto the floor as she jumped off the couch.

… Chloe and Bart sat cuddled on the couch in her apartment, watching it all unfold. “It feels right,” Chloe whispered. “CK’s gonna do great,” Bart said, pressing a kiss to her hair.

… In a penthouse high above the city, Oliver Queen sat watching the TV, seething as he saw Clark Kent making his proclamation. “That son of a bitch,” he growled.

~The United Nations~

Clark looked around at all the people sitting and staring at him. He was smack dab in the spotlight - someplace he’d never wanted to be when he was younger and yet there he was. He found Lex’s gaze at the back of the room and smiled.

“I know you’re scared,” Clark said, looking around the room. “But I promise you that I am not here to be a dictator … When I said I’m the Last Son of Krypton, it’s the truth. I’m it. The only one. This isn’t ‘Independence Day’ … there aren’t ships waiting in space to come and take over this planet. I want to help … bring peace.”

Clark floated over the crowd, watching as eyes and cameras followed. He headed straight for Lex, lifting his lover into his arms and flying back to his previous spot. Gasps could be heard throughout the room. Cameras flashed and people began to murmur.

“This is Lex Luthor,” Clark said. “My lover … the one who will rule at my side. The reputation he has was built on lies … I trust Lex Luthor with my life … my heart, and my soul.” He looked down at his lover and gave him a soft kiss before looking around at the people filling the room. “I know this world … I have seen the wonder, the peace, the beauty of this planet. I have see the kindness and generosity of its people. I have seen the war, the terror, the fear. I look at this great planet as see the potential … what it could be.
