The night was quiet, the only sound was the sound of the birds and the breathing of the two men sitting across from each other. Their hands were clasped, candles surrounded them in a perfect circle.
“This is right,” Clark whispered.
“For now,” Lex agreed. “Until the right laws pass … this will do.” He smiled and pressed a soft kiss to Clark’s fingers.
Clark just smiled and squeezed Lex’s hand lovingly.
“I, Lex Luthor, by the life that courses within my blood and the love that resides within my heart, take thee Clark Kent to my hand, my heart, and my spirit to be my chosen one. To desire thee and be desired by thee, to possess thee, and be possessed by thee, without sin or shame, for naught can exist in the purity of my love for thee. I promise to love and cherish thee wholly and completely without restraint, in sickness and in health, in plenty and in poverty, in life and beyond, where we shall meet, remember, and love again. I shall not seek to change thee in any way. I shall respect thee, thy beliefs, thy people, and thy ways as I respect myself.” Lex slid a platinum band on Clark’s left ring finger, kissing him gently.
“I, Clark Kent, by the life that courses within my blood and the love that resides within my heart, take thee Lex Luthor to my hand, my heart, and my spirit to be my chosen one. To desire thee and be desired by thee, to possess thee, and be possessed by thee, without sin or shame, for naught can exist in the purity of my love for thee. “I will cherish you forever,” Lex promised. “My soul is yours, my heart is yours.”
“I will cherish you forever,” Clark breathed. “My heart is yours, my soul is yours.”
Clark learned over and wrapped his arms around Lex, pressing his lips to Lex’s in a passionate kiss.
“God, I love you so much,” Lex murmured. “And I can’t wait for the day when we can walk down that aisle and get married.”
“This is enough,” Clark replied. “We promised ourselves to each other … nothing can break us apart … "
