I think one of my fondest childhood memories is from when my family (mom, dad, sis and I) drove to Yellowstone National Park.  We lovingly call it the 'Vacation from Hell' because we ended up with car trouble at the end, but ...

We stayed in Yellowstone for three days and two nights, camping out by the lake.  One night, we were sitting in the tent and playing the board game Sequence.  My mom's feet started falling asleep and then we all started giggling and my mom kept farting, which only made us laugh more ... the campgrounds had a 10:00pm curfew and were were up past 10:00 ... we were trying to be quiet, but we all kept laughing and we were so worried that the rangers were going to come and reprimand us ...

Then we headed to northern CA to stay with my aunt, and we picked up my cousin and all five of us headed back to SoCal ... on the way back, the truck we were driving (that we borrowed from my grandpa) broke down ... we got stranded in Morro Bay.  So our grandma and grandpa had to drive up to get us.  Our grandpa stayed in Morro Bay with my dad and our grandma drove us back.  My sister, my cousin and I were all in the backseat with our pillows on our laps ... we had McDonald's for dinner ...

We later found out that our grandpa convinced our dad to rent a car and go out for dinner ... they went to some fancy place and had oysters on a half shell ... Grandma was not pleased LOL

Still ... it's one of my fondest memories ... I think about it often (as it was the last big vacation we went on before my mom passed away)
