Gibbs sighed and wiped the sweat from his forehead.  He stretched and admired the view from the roof of Mike Franks’ beachside shack.  He’d been there for two months … two months of nothing but sun, sand and beer.

There had been something niggling at the back of his mind, though.  It always felt like something was missing, and Gibbs just couldn’t put his finger on it.

Mike brought over ladies from the cantina, trying to get Gibbs to ‘lighten up’, but Gibbs just couldn’t.

“Leroy Jethro Gibbs!”

Gibbs turned on the roof and squinted in the dying sunlight.  The tall man walking towards the shack looked familiar.  Short spiky dark brown hair, broad shoulders, bright green eyes.

“Tony!”  The name finally came to him and he climbed down the ladder.

“So this is where you’ve been hiding,” Tony said, dropping his small duffel bag in the sand.  “Took me long enough to find you.”

“Why?” Gibbs asked, wiping his hands on his shirt.  “Why did you come and find me?”

Tony sighed softly.  “You know, this new faulty memory of yours is pretty damn annoying,” he muttered.  Before Gibbs had been injured they had been so close … so close.  There had been surreptitious touches in the bullpen and chaste kisses in Gibbs’ basement.  But now …

Gibbs heard him and frowned slightly.  Why did he feel so much more at ease with Tony there?

“Things are coming back, Tony,” Gibbs said.  “I just need some time … “

“I don’t … I don’t have the patience for it to come back to you, Jeth,” Tony said.  Before Gibbs could protest, Tony had wrapped a hand around his neck and pulled him in for a lip bruising kiss.  In that moment, it was like the floodgates opened and memories rushed at him.

Gibbs groaned and wrapped his arms around Tony and held him close.  When the kiss finally broke, both men were panting softly.  “Tony,” Gibbs breathed.  “Oh Tony … “

“You just left,” Tony said softly.  “And it was like the last two months had been nothing.”

“I didn’t remember … “

“But you do now?” Tony asked, looking into Gibbs eyes.

“I do,” Gibbs replied, reaching up and running a thumb across Tony’s cheekbone.  “I do .. “  He glanced down at the duffel bag in the sand.  “Planning on staying a while?”

“I took some of my vacation time that’s been building up,” Tony said.  “That’s okay, right?”

Gibbs laughed and picked up Tony’s bag, leading the younger man towards the front door of the shack.  “We have some catching up to do.”

“What about Franks?” Tony asked.

“Don’t worry about him,” Gibbs said as he tugged Tony inside.  “I’ll hang a sock on the door.”

Tony let out a loud laugh and followed Gibbs inside.  Everything was going to be just fine now.
