Summary: Inspired by the pic ... Clark and Lex reconnect at a salon
“Clark sweetie, are you almost done?” Bruce asked from the back door to the salon.
“Just finishing up,” Clark said with a smile. He removed the cape from his client and helped her out the chair. She wrapped him in a hug.
“Thanks Clark, it looks great as always,” the girl said as she walked towards the front desk.
“Don’t be a stranger; come back in about 6 weeks,” Clark said and made his way to the back door to stand by Bruce. They exited through the back door and made their way down the short hallway to a side panel. Bruce typed in the code on the keypad and a door slid open. They rode the elevator down in silence.
“Messages?” Clark asked as the exited the elevator. He and Bruce made their way to the center of the room and took their seats at the large console.
“One unheard message,” the computer stated in a monotone voice. “Supes and Bats, just want to remind you two that you have patrol tonight.” Bruce and Clark shared a look when they heard the Flash’s voice.
“How could we forget; there’s a damn schedule that gets emailed to us every week,” Bruce said. He began to read through the stacks of papers on the console and Clark navigated his way through the blinking screens.
“How many more appointments are there upstairs before we can get out of here?” Clark asked, leaning back in his chair and closing his eyes.
“Just one more for you,” Bruce said.
“Good, then we can get out of here and do a quick patrol. Although there’s nothing for me to rush to; Tom and I were supposed to go out, but he cancelled,” Clark said.
Bruce rifled through a few more pages before setting them aside and leaning back. “Did you ever think that we would be doing this?”
“What; hair stylists by day and superheroes by night?” Clark asked with a grin. “Never; and I don’t think anyone would have ever thought that you and I would not only be hair stylists, but be good stylists.”
“It is an interesting life we lead my friend,” Bruce said, slowly standing up. Clark quietly followed suite and walked back over to the elevator. They rode back up and made their way back into the main area of the salon.

“Why did you drag me here with you?” Lex asked, following Chloe down the street.
“Because you’re my friend and will help steer me away from making any drastic decisions,” Chloe said with a grin. “Plus I’ve never been here before and wanted moral support. One of my coworkers recommended this salon to me and since I was in need of a new stylist, here I am.”
They had made their way across the street as they were talking and now stood in front of the salon, both staring up at the sign.
“Bruce and Clark Beauty Salon,” Lex said slowly.
“I wasn’t given the name, just the address. My friend even made the appointment for me. You don’t think it’s …?” Chloe trailed off slowly. They both took deep breaths and entered the salon. They walked to the reception desk and were greeted by a young redhead.
“Welcome to Bruce and Clark Beauty Salon, do you have an appointment?”
“Um, I think so; my name is Chloe and I …” she trailed off when she saw Clark chatting with another man. They were standing awfully close, and she was startled when Clark leaned close, whispered something in the other man’s ear and then chuckled. Just then Clark noticed her.
“Chloe?” Clark asked, and came rushing forward. “Are you my appointment?” He looked at the receptionist and saw her nod. He looked down at the appointment book. “A complete restyle, huh? Well then we’d best get started.” Clark took her hand and started to drag her towards the back.
“Hold on one minute,” Chloe said, pulling her hand out of Clark’s grasp. “This is the first I’ve seen of you in three years. Where have you been? How did you end up here? And holy shit is that Bruce Wayne?” Chloe stared at Bruce, who gave her a look.
“Things got rough, and Bruce showed up at the right time. I got the hell out of Smallville. I stayed with Bruce for a while, just trying to find my way. We both ended up in cosmetology school, and he financed this little venture,” Clark said, suddenly noticing Lex standing there. He stared at Lex for a moment, just drinking in the sight of him before pulling Chloe towards his station.
“Bruce,” Lex said, glancing his way before training his gaze on Clark. Tight black jeans, with black boots, a bright blue button down with most of the buttons undone and a riotous head of curls.
“Lex, it’s good to see you. What are we doing today? Just a trim or do we want to go for a complete change?” Bruce asked with a wide smile.
“Don’t even think about it Bruce. What the hell is all this anyway?”
“You heard Clark. Everything he said is the truth. When I came to town, he was hurting. I gave him a place to gather his thoughts, figure out what to do with his life. He decided on cosmetology, heaven knows why, and convinced me to go with him. He does keep in touch with his parents; I made sure of that he does. He’s doing really good Lex,” Bruce finished, looking at Clark chatting animatedly with Chloe.
“And you two?” Lex asked, heart pounding.
“Ah, well for the answer to that you’ll have to ask Clark,” Bruce said, and walked away, leaving Lex to his thoughts.

“Are you going to tell me what you’re going to do?” Chloe asked, watching Clark in the mirror playing with her hair.
“Only if you tell me what you’re doing here with Lex,” Clark said, meeting her eyes in the mirror.
Chloe sighed. “Well, you left town with Bruce for God knows where, and Lana decided to go back to Paris. Lex and I were the only ones left and well, we became friends. You really hurt us when you just left like that.”
“I had every intention of coming back. I just needed to gather my thoughts; things were getting weird and rough for me and I didn’t know how to handle it. Bruce helped me,” Clark said, his eyes on Chloe’s hair.
“I know you probably didn’t mean to hurt people, Clark. I am happy to see you, although I wasn’t expecting to see you again here. Cosmetology?”
“Yeah,” Clark said with a blush. “I found that I really have an aptitude for it. Bruce, well, it took him a little longer, but he’s good too,” he finished with a smile. “So, do you really want to know what I want to do?”
“Hell yes,” Chloe exclaimed as Clark wrapped the cape around her neck.
“Frost the blond with some red highlights. As for the cut, well, I haven’t thought that far yet; we’ll see what happens,” Clark said with a grin.
“You’re lucky I still trust you,” Chloe said. Clark chuckled and went to grab his supplies.

Lex watched Clark work on Chloe’s hair; first with the foils, then with an all over color. He watched Clark’s movements and was impressed. Clark really knew what he was doing. He watched as they chatted and laughed. He felt that small pang of jealousy. Bruce hadn’t said that the two of them were together, but still.
Lex had missed Clark. Sure, he and Chloe had developed a friendship; first out of need for companionship. Now they were genuine best friends; they knew everything about each other. Chloe was the one that kept Lex from making stupid mistakes. Lex was the person Chloe came to for school advice. Now here they all were, with Clark as a stylist of all things. He never thought Clark, alien from Smallville, would be in this profession but as he watched Clark he could see that Clark was comfortable.

“All right, the color is done; what do you think?” Clark asked as he took the towel from Chloe’s hair.
“Oh my God; I love it!” Chloe said, turning her head from side to side.
“I knew you would,” Clark said with a grin. He took a comb from the trolley and began combing through the length. “You’ve been letting it grow, huh?” Chloe nodded. “How much of this length are you attached to?” Clark asked as he replaced the comb and ran his hands through her hair.
“Um …” Chloe said with a small gulp.
“Well the appointment did say a complete restyle,” Clark said with a wide smile. He watched Chloe’s face in the mirror as she contemplated her hair.
“Go for it,” Chloe said with a grin. Clark gave a whoop and reached for the scissors. She watched in the mirror as Clark attacked her hair with vigor, and saw pieces flying. Clark would cut a piece here and there, then step back and contemplate before going back in with the scissors. Chloe was shocked at the length of some of the pieces that were falling. She could see the shape forming as Clark worked. He stood back, contemplated, and smiled.
“Let me grab some product, and I think we’re done,” Clark said with a smile. He raced back and found Chloe running her fingers through her hair, testing it out. “What do you think?”
“I’m waiting till it’s done but … I think I might just love it,” Chloe said with a smile. Clark returned her smile and began to work the product through her hair and reach for the blow dryer. A couple of minutes later Clark whipped the cape off and helped Chloe stand. Chloe immediately raced to Lex.
“Lex, honestly, what do you think?” Chloe asked. Lex looked at her closely. He had to admit, Clark was good at his job. Chloe’s color looked amazing, as did the cut. She had a long sweeping bang, and the rest was cut fairly short and standing up in random spikes.
“It looks great Chloe,” Lex said with a smile. Chloe bounced and ran over to Clark and wrapped him in a hug.
“Clark,” Bruce said from his station. Clark looked down at his watch and noticed the time.
“Oh crap. Listen, it was great seeing you guys again, but Bruce and I have something we need to do,” Clark said.
“It’s fine,” Chloe and Lex said. Chloe wrapped Clark in a hug. “Don’t be a stranger, okay? We miss you,” Chloe said.
Clark walked Chloe and Lex to the door. Chloe walked out, but Clark managed to grab Lex’s hand. He leaned close and whispered in his ear. “Lex, meet me for some coffee at nine. There’s a coffee shop around the corner. I miss you.” Lex looked at him, and nodded slowly before catching up with Chloe.

Clark and Bruce finished their patrol and Clark made his way back to his apartment. He showered, did his hair and rummaged through his closet. He decided on a pair of casual jeans, boots, and a white linen shirt. He grabbed his wallet and his house keys and made his way to the coffee shop.
Lex was waiting for him when he walked in. Clark walked to the booth and took a seat across from Lex.
“How was patrol?” Lex asked.
“How did you know?” Clark asked.
“I would know you anywhere,” Lex said softly. Clark stared at Lex.
“I’ve missed you so much Lex,” Clark said softly. He reached across the table and took Lex’s hand.
“I need to know,” Lex said. “You and Bruce; are you guys …?”
Clark sighed. “When I first went to live with him we tried it. It didn’t work out. We’re better as friends and colleagues than we are as lover. I am so in love with you that I can’t be with anyone else. Trust me, I’ve tried. I have dated a lot of guys but it hasn’t worked out because it wasn’t you.” Lex grinned and squeezed Clark’s hand.
“You have no idea how happy I am to hear that,” Lex said.
“What about you?” Clark asked.
“No one; I haven’t dated anyone since you left. I guess I was kind of hoping you’d come back and we’d be together,” Lex said, blushing.
“Well, we’re together now,” Clark said with a grin.
“I like the sound of that,” Lex said with a smile.
“Want to come back to my place? We can get reacquainted,” Clark said with a mischievous smile.
“I like the sound of that even better,” Lex said with a chuckle. He and Clark stood up, paid for their coffees and practically ran to Clark’s apartment.

Three months later
“Bruce, I seriously need you to finish up with Shannon for me,” Clark said. Bruce sauntered over and smiled.
“What, you got a big date?” Bruce asked with a smile. He took the scissors from Clark’s hands.
“You know I do; Lex is going to be here in 5 minutes,” Clark said, racing to the back to grab his belongings. Just as he made it to reception Lex entered the salon.
“Hello gorgeous,” Lex said, wrapping Clark in a tight embrace and kissing him.
“Hey you,” Clark said with a grin. “Bruce, you’ll close up?” Bruce looked up from his work and gave him a thumb’s up. Clark and Lex smiled and left the salon.
“I called in a favor and got Jenny moved into Chloe’s department,” Lex said.
“Why did you do that?”
“Jenny was the one who booked the appointment for Chloe. Plus Chloe confessed that she’s had a crush on Jenny for some time,” Lex said with a laugh.
Clark burst out laughing. “You are a good friend; a good friend and a great boyfriend.” Lex smiled and kissed Clark. The two of them walked to the restaurant, laughing and smiling; oblivious of everyone else around them.
