Summary: Another edition to what I lovingly call the Braided!Verse ... Clark is babysitting Lana agin ... disaster strikes and Lex has to make it all better!

“I wanna play Beauty Parlor!” Lana demanded with a stomp of her foot. Clark rolled his eyes and sighed. He was watching Lana again so that Chloe could get some work done. They’d played board games and watched Disney movies, and now Lana wanted to play Beauty Parlor. The last time Clark had let Lana get her hands on his hair he’d ended up with a head of braids.

“Lana, I don’t think that’s such a good idea. Why don’t we watch ‘The Little Mermaid’ again?” Clark asked.

“NO! No, no, no, no, no!” Lana screamed and began to hold her breath. Clark watched as her face turned bright red. He began frantically searching the room for a toy he’d seen earlier. He saw the pair Play-Doh plastic scissors and ran across the room to get them. He came back to see Lana’s face had turned purple.

“Here, here; you can use these,” Clark said, handing her the plastic scissors and sitting down in the tiny pink chair.

“Yay!” Lana said, and began running her fingers through Clark’s hair. “Your hair is really curly, Clark. I like your pretty curls.”  Clark just sat still and let her play. At least she was calm and not running around the apartment.

Lana’s fingers in his hair were really relaxing and Clark kind of zoned out for a couple of minutes. He came crashing back to reality when a large lock of his hair fell in front of his eyes and landed on his lap. He immediately stood up and put a hand to his hair. He could feel that there were short pieces everywhere. He looked at the floor and saw it littered with three and four inch chunks of hair. He turned back around to face the mirror, and actually saw what Lana had done. There were short pieces sticking up on top of his head along with longer pieces and short pieces all around his neckline.

He quietly pulled his cell phone out of his pocket and hit speed dial one. “Lex, you’re at the office right? Close by? You might want to come by … You’re on your way anyway? Good, because something has – Lana!!! Lex, just come over and you’ll see what happened, I need to stop Lana.” Clark hung up the phone and raced towards Lana, who was cutting yet another large chunk of hair.

“But I wanna be pretty Clark!” Lana said, chopping another long chunk of hair. Clark took the scissors from her hands and placed them behind the couch. He looked at Lana and surveyed the damage. Clark could see a couple of pieces about two inches long sticking up randomly around her head. He was about to scold Lana for what she had done when he heard a knock on the door.

“Clark? It’s me, let me in,” Lex said through the door.

“First, you have to promise not to hurt Lana; she’s mentally seven and is not completely responsible for her actions,” Clark said. He heard Lex sigh through the door.

“All right Clark; I promise not to hurt Lana,” Lex said, resigned. He was rewarded with Clark opening the door. Lex took one look at Clark and just about burst into tears. Clark had short tufts of hair sticking up everywhere amidst the curls. “Oh Clark,” Lex said softly, stepping through the door and putting his hands in Clark’s hair.

“It’s okay, it’s only hair; it’ll grow back,” Clark said softly. Lex kissed him softly on the lips with a smile.

“Lexie, why d’you kiss Clark?” Lana asked innocently from the sofa. Lex turned to look at Lana and immediately decided against hurting her. He saw all the short little tufts sticking up on her head and decided that she’d hurt herself enough. When she finally came out of this, there would be one hell of a shock waiting for her.

“I kissed him because I was happy to see him,” Lex said with a smile. “Now Lana, just what have you done to yourself and Clark?”

“Clark had such pretty curls, and I just wanted a couple. Then I decided that I wanted to be pretty like Clark,” Lana said with an innocent smile.

“Yes, and you have done a fantastic job,” Lex said with a chuckle. “Now why don’t you go join Clark while I make a quick phone call?” Lex watched Lana walk away, flipped open his cell phone and dialed a number. “Rylee … Lex Luthor … I need your complete discretion … Yes, through the back way to your private room … Yes, we’ll be there shortly … Thank you.” Lex closed the phone and turned to face Clark and Lana.

“All right; each of you grab a jacket with a hood. We are going to see a good friend of mine who will help up. Clark, call Chloe and tell her what’s going on,” Lex said, watching as Clark nodded and opened his cell phone. A few moments later and the three of them were heading out the door to the car Lex had waiting.

“Oh goodness,” Rylee said when she saw Clark and Lana. “What in the world happened here?”

“Lana thought she could be a stylist,” Clark said with a tight smile. “Why don’t you figure her out first?” Rylee nodded and motioned Lana to the chair. Clark moved to take a seat next to Lex and watched Rylee sort out Lana’s hair.

“Wow, you really did a number on it, didn’t you?” Rylee said, combing through Lana’s hair.

“I wanna be pretty like Clark,” Lana said in a matter of fact tone of voice.

“I think I can fix this; it’ll be short though,” Rylee said, glancing at Clark and Lex. She noticed that Clark had lain down and Lex was stroking his hair.

“Short is fine; she did it to herself,” Lex said and turned his attention back to Clark as Rylee went to work.   He stroked Clark’s hair slowly, and listened to Clark breathe. He could hear the breaths stutter a bit, and could suddenly feel the tears soak the knee of his pants. “Baby, it’s okay; it’ll grow out, I promise,” Lex said softly.

“I know,” Clark said shakily. “It’s just; you love my hair.”

“Clark listen to me; I love more than just your hair. I love every little thing about you; and your hair will grow back,” Lex replied and leaned down to kiss Clark’s temple. Lex sat back up and continued to stroke Clark’s hair. They stayed that way for a couple more minutes before Rylee brought them back to reality.

“All right, she’s done; next?” Clark sat up and looked with Lex at Lana. She looked so happy, standing next to Rylee with a short pixie cut.

“Look Clark! I’m pretty like you!” she said, ruffling her hair. Clark smiled, made his way to the chair and sat down. He watched in the mirror as Rylee wrapped the cape around his neck.

“Lana, I want you to go sit right there in that chair while I stay here with Clark,” Lex said and watched as Lana nodded and sat down. Lex pulled a chair, sat down next to Clark and took his hand.

“Hmm ...” Rylee murmured as she combed through Clark’s hair. “I think I can save some of the length on top, but the rest is going to have to be pretty short; I’ll blend it and it’ll be fine.” Clark closed his eyes and sighed.

“Just do it,” he said. Lex took Clark’s hand in his and kissed his fingers. He sat there holding Clark’s hand as Rylee broke out the clippers first, then the scissors. Clark kept his eyes closed the whole time, not wanting to see it. Finally, he felt Rylee running some product through his hair.

“Done,” she said. Clark opened his eyes; it wasn’t too bad. Short on the back and sides, yes; but the top was still okay. Clark looked at Lex expectantly. Lex looked at him, slid his fingers through the hair on Clark’s head and smiled.

“It looks really good,” Lex whispered in Clark’s ear, nibbling on Clark’s earlobe. Clark blushed and turned and kissed him.

“Why d’you kiss Clark again Lexie?” Lana asked. She was standing on a chair, admiring her hair in the mirror.

“Because I think he looks very handsome,” Lex replied with a smile. “Thanks Rylee.”

“No problem,” Rylee said with a smile. “Go ahead and sneak out the back; it was great to see you. Don’t be a stranger.”

Lex smiled, took Clark’s hand and they led Lana out the back way of the salon back to the apartment.

“You really like my hair?” Clark asked. He and Lex were lying in bed. Chloe had come home to quite a surprise. She laughed for a couple of minutes, made a joke about Clark getting tricked by a seven year old, and then told him that his hair looked really good. The look of shock on her face when she saw Lana was priceless; Clark would remember that moment forever.

“How many times do I have to tell you?” Lex said looking at his lover. “You look fantastic; you will always look fantastic. It’s actually a nice change from the curls; although don’t get too used to this. I want you to grow it out as fast as possible.”

“Not as much to hang on to,” Clark said with a devilish smile. Lex returned the smile

“Can still have fun,” Lex replied.

A maid walking by their bedroom jumped in shock when she heard the yells and moans coming from the master bedroom, and muttered something about getting earplugs.

Lex, Chloe, and Clark were sitting at the table in Chloe’s apartment eating breakfast. Lana was still asleep, for which they were all grateful. She had been even more excited since she’d gotten her hair cut, and everyone was waiting for when she’d come out of it. Lex ran a hand through Clark’s hair and Chloe smiled at the two of them. She was just about to open her mouth to make a comment when they all heard a yelp from Lana’s bedroom. Lana came running into the kitchen wide eyed and in shock.

‘What in the hell happened to my hair?” Lana yelled. Then she saw Clark. “Why in the world did you cut your hair Clark?”

Clark, Chloe, and Lex looked at Lana. “Well Lana, for the past couple of weeks you’ve been acting like a seven year old. You ingested something and the doctor said you just had to sweat it out of your system. So I’ve been watching you, but when I needed a break Clark would come over and watch you. The last time he watched you, you convinced him to play Beauty Parlor and actually cut his hair. You then proceeded to cut your own hair. Lex came and took you guys to get it fixed,” Chloe said with a smile.

Lana ran a hand through her short hair. “Clark, I’m so sorry. When I was little I was a little obsessed with hair, I guess. I don’t know what I can do or what I can say,” Lana said softy.

“Lana, it’s okay. It’s hair; it’ll grow back, I promise. You weren’t yourself and I don’t blame you. I thought I had the situation handled and you outwitted me; for a seven year old, you were pretty sneaky,” Clark said with a grin. Lana returned the grin, chuckled, and ran a hand through her hair again, grimacing at the shortness.

“I guess I’ll just have to get used to it,” Lana said, glancing at the group. “Do you guys like it?”

“Actually I think it suits you,” Chloe said with a smile. Lana grinned.

“Thanks,” Lana replied. “So how long was I seven?”

“About two weeks?” Clark replied.

“Man I feel for you. My Aunt Nell used to tell me that when I was seven I was a hellion. I had boundless energy and couldn’t keep still.”

“It was certainly an adventure,” Clark said with grin. He looked at Lex, who smiled and kissed him.

“So, you guys going to adopt any kids any time soon?” Lana asked innocently.

“No!” Clark and Lex said in unison, then looked at each other and laughed.
