Summary: Lex is sick and tired of Clark's attempts to 'fit in' and decides to take action
A/N: I know Clark is a little out of character in how he tries to fit in, but ... it works for the fic

Lex sipped his coffee and watched the traffic move up and down Main Street, waiting for Clark to make an appearance. Clark; his partner of less than a year. They were still keeping things very low key while in Smallville, even though Clark was now over the age of consent and attending Metropolis University.

Lex sighed as Clark came into view - riding down Main Street on his skateboard, wearing women’s jeans, hair falling around his shoulders and over one eye in a flat ironed, hair sprayed mess. Lex had tried time and time again to convince his partner not to follow fashion, to be his own man. But Clark decided he wanted to follow the crowds, and Lex decided that he’d had enough.

Clark skateboarded up to the front of the Talon and kicked up his skateboard, catching it in his hand. He entered the Talon and immediately found Lex, resisting the urge to kiss his lover. They weren’t open in Smallville, only openly showing affection when they were in Metropolis.

“Hey,” Clark said with a smile.

“Hello,” Lex said, returning the smile. “Would you like to come over to and play some pool?” He accompanied the question with a playful wink.

“Play some pool, huh?” Clark asked, smiling through his hair.

“Of course,” Lex said. He stood and made his way to the door. “Coming?” he asked with a smile.

Clark chuckled and tucked his skateboard under his arm as he followed Lex to the car, chucking the board in the backseat as he climbed in.

Lex slid behind the steering wheel, glanced at Clark and headed for the mansion, smiling to himself as he drove home.

Clark hummed along to the radio, wrapping a long piece of hair around his fingers as he watched the corn go by. As they pulled up in front of the mansion, Clark climbed out and made to grab his skateboard.

“Leave it there,” Lex said. “Someone will grab it for you.”

“All right,” Clark replied, following Lex into the mansion. The second the door closed behind them, Clark pushed Lex against wall and kissed him. “I missed you.”

Lex pushed Clark’s hair out of his face and smiled. “I missed you, too,” he said. “Come on upstairs with me … I have a surprise for you.”

“A surprise?” Clark asked, taking Lex’s hand and allowing his lover to lead him up the stairs. “What kind of surprise?”

“If I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise,” Lex said with a wink.

Clark just rolled his eyes, tugging on his pants a bit as he and Lex made their way through the master bedroom to the master bath. Clark’s eyes widened as he saw the large tub filled with warm water. “What’s all this?” he asked.

“I thought we could share a bath,” Lex said, nudging Clark over to the tub with a smile.

“A bath?” Clark said. He turned to face Lex, giving his lover a look. “A bath.”

“Yes, a bath,” Lex said. He continued to walk forward, pushing Clark closer and closer to the tub. “It would be so sensual … you and me in the water, skin to skin, hands gently washing each other … “

“Mmmm, that sounds nice,” Clark agreed. He kept backing up until he felt the cold porcelain of the large tub against his calves.

“Very nice,” Lex murmured, stepping closer and closer until stood nearly nose to nose with his lover. He watched as Clark’s face relaxed and his body opened, and the moment he saw Clark relax completely, he made his move. He gave his lover one hard shove, sending him flying backwards, fully clothed, into the large bathtub.

Clark came up, sputtering and spitting water. “What the hell?” he asked, his hair falling into his face.

“This is for your own good, Clark,” Lex said calmly. He reached for a pair of scissors and began to cut through Clark’s tight jeans and t-shirt. “I understand wanting to fit in but this is not you.” He pulled off Clark’s boots and socks and dropped them on the floor with his ruined clothes. “You need to be your own man, not follow the masses. And this flat-ironed, hairsprayed mess you call hair and these clothes just aren’t you. You’re … smart and funny and … classically beautiful. You’re hiding it all and I won’t stand for it.”

Clark blinked up at Lex, hair still in his face. “Classically beautiful?” he murmured.

Lex smiled as he snipped the scissors in Clark’s face. “Yes, now hold still while I attempt to fix this mess you’ve created,” he said. He gave Clark a loving kiss before concentrating on Clark’s hair, snipping carefully and methodically.

Clark gulped softly, keeping his head perfectly still. He did want to fit in … most of his friends at school had fallen into the emo scene, and Clark … didn’t want to be left out. Deep down he knew that it wasn’t the look for him. He watched as long locks of hair dropped around him. He glanced up at Lex and smiled at the look of deep concentration on his lover’s face.

Lex kept cutting until he was satisfied, running his fingers through Clark’s much shorter hair. It wasn’t perfect, but Lex would take Clark into Metropolis and get it evened out a bit. He grabbed a bottle of apple scented shampoo, poured some into his hands and began to work it through Clark’s curls.

“Christ,” Clark groaned, feeling Lex’s hands massaging and scratching at his scalp. He gave himself over Lex’s possessive and authoritative grip, sinking deeper and deeper into the water.

“See what it can be like if you just let me pamper you?” Lex purred, pushing Clark under the water to rinse his hair.

Clark sputtered a bit as he came up for air, although almost instantly relaxed when Lex started massaging conditioner into his hair. “Your hands are magic,” Clark muttered, gripping the edges of the tub as Lex’s fingers worked the tension from Clark’s scalp.

Lex chuckled softly. “Is that so?” he murmured.

“Mmmhmm,” Clark replied. He sank under one more time to rinse the conditioner, coming back up and giving Lex a soft smile. “Did it really take shoving me into the tub to get me to clean up?”

“Yes, it really took me shoving you into the tub,” Lex said, draining the tub and wrapping Clark in a large towel. “I tried talking to you about this, and you just tuned me out … You weren’t meant to follow trends, Clark.” He reached up and carded a hand through Clark’s wet curls. “As I said before, you are classically beautiful.” He led Clark into the master bedroom and opened the walk in closet. “Look.”

Clark stepped into the closet, towel tucked around his waist. His mouth dropped open as he saw that the right hand side of the walk in closet was filled with dark wash jeans, button down shirts, sweaters, slacks … a whole new wardrobe. “All for me?”

“All for you,” Lex said, pressing a soft kiss to Clark’s golden shoulder. “No more women’s jeans, no more hairspray, no more of this horrible emo phase … got it?”

“Got it,” Clark murmured, leaning back against Lex. “I’m sorry … I just wanted to fit in.”

“You were meant to stand out.”
