Jury Duty ...

I got that lovely piece of mail yesterday ... I got called for jury duty ... BLEGH!!! I'm a call in juror at the beginning of January ... and I don't think my boss pays for jury service, so ... let's hope I don't get called.

I thought they had to pay for jury duty. Otherwise you can claim you can't afford to do it and like, not do it.

They don't have to pay for the first day ... so if I only go for one day ... I wish I could get out of it, but ...

I just hope they don't call me.

Second, how exactly did you get in for this? Is it like a compulsory conscription (like old war draws), does the job you hold mean you have your name down, or a volunteer by the year type thing?

It's all done by draw ... I think it's either once you're 18 or once you register to vote ...
